March 19 - 26

Point Turton 19 to 26 March 2023 Trip Report

A very windy start to the week but the rain held off to the last day. In between we had some pleasant sunny days. The fishing catch was reasonable with plenty of gar about.

Isobel caught a 32cm King George whiting and is leading the competition for the longest fish caught by a female angler this year. She also managed to catch a Port Jackson shark and reeled it in onto the jetty with some assistance. She also caught a stingray causing much excitement as she ran along the jetty dodging other anglers trying to free her line. Add to that a crab she caught on her fishing line making it a very eventful stay.

Some people went in wading for gar with mixed levels of success.

Paul M is leading the competition for the longest fish caught by a male angler this year with a 30.5cm gar. Isobel is leading for the longest crab (a blue swimmer measuring 55cm point to point). Paul M caught one that was 56cm but out of daylight hours.

Paul R is leading the competition for the longest squid with a tube measuring 22cm.
